Occupying the former Erste Bank building in the historic Old Town of Austria's capital, Rosewood Vienna stands as a tribute to the heritage, artistry, and modern culture of the city. Converting this storied landmark into an ultra-luxury hotel called for a signage and wayfinding strategy that balanced deep respect for the building's architectural heritage with the sleek contemporary elegance synonymous with the Rosewood brand.
My primary role involved establishing the sign principles and guidelines across both back-of-house and front-of-house journeys. The approach I helped develop rejected standard architectural signage conventions in favour of a simple, cohesive system that settles quietly into the hotel's interior design, enhancing the overall guest experience.
roles: signage, environmental design, wayfinding, guidelines
workflow: research, mood-boarding, custom typeface adjustments, sign principles, wayfinding strategies, on-site user journey and interiors research, signage prototyping, signage guidelines and booklet
